Acceptable Use Of Child Leash
I'm aware that earlier I said that child leashes are inhuman and should never be placed on a child. I stand by that statement completely but I know that some people will still continue with the use of child leashes ( The correct term for this is child safety harness but I feel that by saying child leashes there is a deep negative connotation with the word leash that will further illustrate my points). Knowing that some people will still use child leashes I feel that those who decide to use them should only do so as a last resort, not an initial practice. If your child is acting up and don't respond with you telling them to cut it out then you should put them on the leash. That I believe will stop the child from acting up than just putting them on a leash every time they go out to a public setting.
My View On Parents Who Use Child Leashes
Lazy. I could end the post there as I feel that adequately relays my feeling on the parents who use this practice I will explain. The USA is getting lazier and lazier by the second. This can be found by the growing number of obese people in this country. I'm not saying that only obese people use child leashes and this isn't a stab at overweight people, but I do feel that the parents who use child leashes are just being lazy. When I was a reckless toddler running around Walmart my parents didn't feel the need to strap me up like a dog. They just caught up to me looked me dead in the eye and said stop, and that was the end of it. I stopped and waited to run around until I got home. Kids are capable of listening to their parents and I feel that child leashes are not an adequate way of teaching your children to behave in public settings.
My View On Child Leashes
To start this post off I should mention I'm a young adult with no children. I believe that child leashes are an inhuman way of caring for kids, and I believe that the only creatures that should ever have a leash put on them are pets. With that said your kids are your kids and I'm not going to tell you how to raise them. I will tell you that I think a lot of people including myself laugh at the site of a child being on a leash. Companies are getting more creative with the design of these leashes dressing them up as backpacks but your not fooling anyone a leash is a leash and the fact that people are putting leashes on their kids to "protect them" I find that as being hilarious.
Child Leashes and The Effects On The Child
Child Leashes are the new way of handling your children in public. While you don't see one every time you go outside they are becoming more and more common in public settings such as parks, grocery stores etc. While some parents swear by them saying they make caring for your kids easier and that your kids are never more than a few yards away no one is really asking what effect this has on the child. I feel that it is embarrassing for the child as they are not as unintelligent as parents make them out to be. Kids now they are on a leash and when they see other children not on a leash they will start to form questions in their minds as to why this is happening. I also feel that there may be long term effects on the child's psyche, they may cling to their parents longer than the average child may due to the fact that they were dragged around on a leash for the first couple years of their life. I believe that there should be future studies to determine the psychological effects that this practice has on the children in the long term.
